We made it home with some time to spare before Halloween, nearly two months on the road for this trip. We had an amazing time! Not sure where our next adventure will take us. Final unhitching of the Durango. The RV back in her home storage safe and sound.

The Road Home

We spent the first night on our return home in Picacho, AZ. Woke up to an unpleasant surprise in the morning - a flat tire on our Durango. So, Josh had to change it before we could hit the road. The rest of the trip home was uneventful, just long! The boys wanted to be home for Halloween, so we just drove with minimal overnight stops.

Oct. 16-18: Malibu, CA

Malibu was our last stop in California. The RV resort we stayed at had an awesome location just across the street from the beach. We had beautiful views of the Pacific Ocean. Lunch in Malibu The boys had a blast riding the giant waves. They didn’t care how cold the water was. The Pacific at sunrise. Our last day.

Santa Barbara, CA: Oct. 15-16

We continued to head south in California, stopping in Santa Barbara to check it out. It was a beautiful area. They have a cool downtown area and happened to be having a farmer’s market the evening we were there. There were a lot of vendors from all of the nearby farms. This is definitely an area we’d like to come back to and spend more time.

San Francisco, CA: Oct. 11-15

We decided to take the risk with the blackouts and head to San Francisco. So glad we did! We had trouble finding a place to stay given that it was Fleet Week, a huge air show put on by United Airlines that occurs each year. Luckily, we found a spot just south in Redwood City. We were able to meet up with Josh's uncle who lives in San Francisco and had a nice lunch at a dim sum place. Welcome to California! Avenue of the Giants

Image
We stayed in Crescent City our first night in California. We were waiting to see what was happening with the blackouts before heading to San Francisco. Due to wildfires and high winds, the power company, PG&E, was turning off the power around the Bay Area. We didn’t want to get stuck in the city with no power. We could run off of our generator for a few days, but didn’t want to worry about not being able to fuel up the RV. After listening to news reports, we decided  to go ahead and venture south. We drove down the historic “Avenue of the Giants.” It’s the old Hwy 101 that winds through forests of giant redwood trees. These trees were enormous!
